My studio is inside the North Star Art Gallery. Come browse my figurative works and landscapes of the region as well as of New England, Italy, Ireland and Scotland.
My love of painting en plein air was nurtured growing up in the Endless Mountains region of NE Pennsylvania. I continue to paint those scenes and those of my adopted home in Ithaca.
I am committed to environmental advocacy in preserving the reality of the scenes I paint. Expressing and describing the beauty of light has been the focus of my work.
My paintings are featured in many private, business, corporate and museum collections. In April 2022 my work was a feature article in the American Art Collector magazine. I continue to present teaching workshops and demonstrations and have an art instructional book “Dramatic Color in the Landscape” as well as instructional videos and catalogs. Just published, my new book “Light on the Figure: Aspects of Painting People” is a compendium representing more than four decades of painting people and is available in hardcover and digital versions.
