CONNECTING ARTISTS AND AUDIENCES

An annual summer Ithaca Artist Market, the Spring Writes Literary Festival, The CAP ArtSpace Gallery, the CAP-a-Palooza Art Sale, and the Greater Ithaca Art Trail are all “CAP” programs.

FUNDING THE ARTS IN TOMPKINS COUNTY

We have six grant programs, and have administered over 6.5 million dollars over the past 30 years to artists, arts organizations, and not for profits for community events, individual career opportunities, and school residencies.

HELPING ARTISTS MAKE A LIFE IN TOMPKINS COUNTY

There are over 1,000 artists each year that benefit from CAP and that number continues to grow. Along with our events and grants, we also offer professional development workshops, networking events, and provide support, advice, brainstorming and connections to area resources. CAP is proud to assist local artists in producing the creative work that so enriches our community.

How to Join the Trail

APPLY FOR NEXT SEASON

Joining the Art Trail happens through an application process once a year. The application for the next season (July 2025 through June 2026) will be on this page by February 2025. Please email Robin (below) to get a reminder! The trail has a sliding fee of $0 to $299. We tell artists that if they can pay, please do so. If they can not, that’s fine. We offer scholarships and trades.

Tompkins County (or just over the border) artists (on any medium – visual, literary, performance..) can apply to be on the Art Trail.

Artists can choose to just be listed and be part of the annual marketing campaign, and/or can choose to be part of Open Studios, Second Saturday openings, and the annual group exhibit. If an artist would like to be open for an Open Studio event and does not have their own studio, that artist can arrange to show their work at a location of their choosing.
