I am a small batch artisan potter, living and working in Trumansburg, NY. Also an artist, novelist, and coloring book creator, I am a compulsive creator who loves to learn. I’ve loved pottery my entire life, but only learned how to make my own when, out of the blue, my husband gifted me a pottery class in 2018, knowing I’d always wanted to learn. It was the most romantic gift of my life. On the card, he wrote, “You love to create and I love you…that’s why.” I fell in love on day one of class (of COURSE I did), and that started me on this particular creative path.
The natural warmth and beauty of black and brown clays inspired me to develop my signature style of hand-carved designs with the surrounding clay left bare—the clays are simply too beautiful to keep fully hidden beneath glaze. My style is time-consuming and challenging to glaze, but I love the results too much to do it any other way.
You’ll find a variety of functional ware in my studio offerings, such as mugs, travel mugs, wine cups, tumblers, bowls, yarn bowls, teapots, vases, and more. These pots are a tactile delight—you can’t help but touch them, running your fingers along the carved design amidst butter-smooth clay over and over again. Because I carve freehand, every piece is unique and a one-of-a-kind creation.
Studio Accessibility:
40 yard walk across yard and then a stone step up through a doorway and a very slight incline ramp through a garage door (both on the front wall of the studio).
