I started playing guitar writing songs and performing in my mid forties. That’s going pretty well. In my early 70’s I began drawing, making collages etc. First I was using markers and drawing on cardboard boxes left over from my furniture moving bizness (Zolar Moving Co.). Lately I’ve been messing around with acrylic paint on wood.
I don’t start with an idea of what I’m trying to do. I just keep adding or subtracting until it looks right. A lot of the stuff I do I put outside and let nature take its course. After a few months it starts getting some character. My primary project is to turn my house and yard into an interesting environment.
I’m not too crazy about the idea of hanging my stuff in a museum. It would be like putting a poor man in a castle. If you found my pieces in a thrift store you might think “O my that’s kool”. Maybe if I keep at it I will get better but I doubt it.
