My carving skills have been honed through a successful career as an architectural carver and stone fabricator. Inspired by Isamu Noguchi, Constantin Brancusi, and the landscapes that surround me, I began sculpting in 2006. The physicality of sculpture drives me forward as my labor transforms organic materials into mystical visions. My intention is to take the viewer away from the mundane world even if only for a moment. Guided by solidity, cracks, and color variations, I combine the material itself with my deep understanding of shapes and precision. Each sculpture is a physical representation of a conversation between me and the material.
I grew up in the Finger Lakes region of New York and spent much of my adulthood in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I now live in Lansing, where my art is on display in a sculpture garden. New pieces will be added as they are completed, and works in progress may be seen in my garage studio.
My pieces have been shown at State of the Art Gallery (Ithaca, NY), Limner Gallery (Hudson, NY), Newburyport Art Association’s Range Lights Sculpture Garden (Newburyport, MA), and Main Street Arts (Clifton Springs, NY). Homes I have worked on have been featured in Trends Santa Fe and have won Best in Show at the Santa Fe Parade of Homes.
