I was diagnosed with stage IV cancer 15 years ago. I’m the one out of 5 million to have the very rare disease Retroperitoneal Leiomyosarcoma. I’ve had over 100 tumors, 3+ years of chemotherapy, 8 surgeries and 13 years of chronic pain. I’ve been told death was imminent 6 different times. I’ve lost a husband, friends and a career in IT along the way BUT today I claim victory and joy!

I’ve been involved with art and design as a hobby for decades, but cancer treatment left me with chronic pain, and I could no longer make jewelry. Five years ago, I devoted myself to learning acrylic paint pouring, which is a combination of art and science. Mixing acrylic paint with additives allows me to create multi-colored artwork with a distinctive flair. Creating this abstract art is my happy place. I also create Kinusaiga, a Japanese fiber art. I fold and tuck fabric into cuts in styrofoam to create colorful fabric paintings. Sharing my art with you brings me peace and joy!

Today I am tumor-free and thriving! If you are in a bad situation right now, please gather up your courage and make the changes for what you need and deserve… the results may surprise you. You may have heard that unicorns do not exist, yet here I am.

For Hope to thrive, you need to feed it well…so, pull yourself up to life’s table and feast, for today is a great day!
