I (she/her) am a retired public school art educator serving 33 years. I began my teaching career in Capital District schools before relocating and serving 27 years at Dryden Sr. High. I obtained my B.S. and M.S. in Art Education from The College of St. Rose, Albany, NY. I studied ceramics for my M.S. area of concentration with Regis Brodie at Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY. Post graduate summer coursework at MASS Art, Bennington College with Ken Beck, Dean Nimmer, Nancy Friesse and Catherine Kehoe in addition to oil painting workshops with Brian Keeler and most recently Debbie Mueller.
My paintings are a snapshot of still lifes with everyday objects. Painting in my 1830’s farmhouse at the kitchen table is a meditative process of observation, mixing, matching and layering colorful strokes to build each form.
My more recent work focuses on point of view and intense lighting. The still life is positioned at a lower level while I stand and look down upon it, capturing only a portion of the subject. The playfulness of color and subject create whimsical and relatable moments in time.
I find painting to be an escape that fills my heart with joy!
