I recently retired from a career in computer forensics and moved from northern Virginia back to New York. I chose the Ithaca area because of its great artist community.
I taught kiln formed glass at the Workhouse Art Center in Lorton, Virginia before moving to Trumansburg. I wanted a more relaxing life. So, I built a studio which enables me to create and teach the art of kiln formed glass.
There are infinite ways to create designs with glass. I’ve been working with glass for over 20 years and I’m still learning new techniques. Various colors of glass can react with each other creating a dark line between the two colors, this can create a beautiful effect. It can also be a disaster if you didn’t expect it. I’ll also sandblast parts of a piece to create a more dramatic effect, or maybe carve a message into it. I create pieces as art, but they can also be functional like bowls, plates, and other items.
As a retired computer geek, I love that I am able to explore the artistic side of myself. Fused glass is my passion so I love sharing it with others!
