I moved to Ithaca with my wife Rachel (a photographer) in 1998. The art community of Ithaca has been a great source of support to me and my work for over twenty years.
My paintings begin with the figure. I draw directly from the live model to create my abstract works. The experience of drawing from the figure model allows me to have a foundation to build from where the body is the main focus.
As I work on my paintings I am not concerned with delivering details to the person viewing them, but rather the essence of the model in pose. By allowing the paintings to become abstract I embrace the unknown and interesting complexities of of the human form.
