Dock 6 Studio

South Hill Business Campus is a great example of a repurposed industrial building now housing over 50 different businesses and studios. Near Ithaca College, Dock 6 is a loading dock turned into my studio – a unique setting for viewing my original fine art prints, artist books, and drawings about places real or imagined.

STUDIO DIRECTIONS

Take Route 96B up the hill towards Ithaca College. Going south, before reaching the main entrance to Ithaca College, is the entrance to South Hill Business Campus. At the light, drive behind the long 3 building, and park anywhere in the lot. About half way down you will see Dock 6 marked on the outside of the building. Enter the building at the door to the left of Dock 5, climb 4 steps and take the door to your left, then walk to the right through the large double doors, and walk ahead and to your right where you will see a large ramp. My studio is Suite 52, next to the Serendipity Catering sign and Ithaca College’s Creative Space Gallery. If unable to climb stairs, there is also a wheelchair accessible entrance at the north end of the building.

BIO

As co-founder of the Ink Shop Printmaking Center in downtown Ithaca, and current professor of printmaking and drawing at Ithaca College, I create prints, drawings, artist books and installations. My large studio allows me to work on a number of different projects at the same time, and enjoy the proximity to the Clay School ceramic studio down the hall! After earning a BA and MA in visual art with a concentration in printmaking, I had a long hiatus from printmaking raising my two boys, but continued working in pastel and watercolor. A trip to Ireland’s printmaking studios in 1999 inspired me to start the Ink Shop with a small group of artists here in Ithaca. I have been making prints ever since. I earned an MFA three years ago from Lesley University College of Art and Design in Visual Studies in Boston. It was a wonderful experience, expanding my notion of what my art can be, and where to place myself in the broad field of art practices.

Affiliation with IC Affiliation with IC: I teach beginning, intermediate, advanced drawing, and printmaking at Ithaca College. I also teach workshops at the Ink Shop Printmaking Center, and workshops with students of South Seneca and Ithaca High Schools each year.
