I work in watercolor, acrylic and oil for my representational paintings of common things I find fascinating. I enjoy painting both en plein air and in my studio in the top of our blue barn.
ADDRESS25 Washington Street, Trumansburg, NY 14886
From Ithaca take 96 to Trumansburg. Make a right onto Washington St. (just past the bank), go up the hill two blocks and it’s the 2nd property on the left once you cross Seneca St. My studio is above the garage in the blue barn. Feel free to park near the barn.
Like most artists, I have been drawing and painting my whole life, but as an adult I worked as a graphic designer for many, many years, which left little time or creative energy for much painting. Since moving to the Finger Lakes region from Wisconsin over 2 ½ years ago I have been painting more than ever in the upstairs studio of our blue barn.
I love painting the ordinary—bringing it to life through light and color—hopefully showing the viewer something new. When my children were small I started painting in watercolor and that was my preferred medium for years. Then I found I could paint in a different manner, in different sizes and on more surfaces with acrylics. In the past few years I have been also painting outside on location, en plein air, in addition to studio painting and I’ve started using oil paint for outside (and occasionally for studio paintings). Bringing a painting to life continues to bring me joy no matter what the paint medium is.
