Adults as well as children who have no way of knowing that I make
toys often call me Santa Claus – because of my white beard? Do they
know something that I don’t know? My workshop is open during Art
Trail weekends, otherwise by appointment please. Children are
always welcome.

STUDIO DIRECTIONS
From Ithaca, take Route 96 north. Two miles past Jacksonville Post Office, after the sign to the Taughannock Falls, turn LEFT at the crossroads onto Rabbit Run Road. Travel one mile, passing my beehives, sheep pasture and mailbox. My workshop is on the right. Look for the rabbit on the door.
From the north, turn right just past the library onto South Street in Trumansburg. Travel one mile and turn left onto Rabbit Run Road. My workshop is the fourth building on the left.
BIOGRAPHY
I began making wooden toys for my own children. With each child, my designs and skills improved. Eventually, I was hooked and became a full-time craftsman.
I design with animal shapes, Homo sapiens included, and prefer to use the natural colors and grains of different wood species to match each animal’s textures and colors. Occasionally wood dyes are applied for accents. One of my Noah’s Arks includes 14 different types of wood. I work with native American hardwoods primarily, and often harvest trees that grow on my land.
My crafts are sold to homes, galleries, and collectors throughout the world. My work has been added to museum collections and shown at several museums including the Smithsonian Museum, American Craft Museum, and Wharton Esherick Museum and the Nuremburg Toy Museum.
